หลายคนอาจปรับตัวไม่ได้ เมื่อไปเรียนต่อต่างประเทศ ทั้งเรื่องของภาษา ระบบการศึกษา นักเรียนบางคนอาจมีพื้นฐานวิชาการ ไม่ดีพอจึงต้องเข้ากลักสูตรนี้

" High School Prepreration "
หลักสูตรที่ใกล้เคียงกับ Foundation year มากนักเรียนและผู้ปกครอง ต้องทำความเข้าใจให้ถูกต้อง ก่อนตัดสินใจเลือกระบบใด ระบบหนึ่ง

TIPS 1 :: Direct Entry Program

>>>การเข้าศึกษาในโรงเรียน วิทยาลัย มหาวิทยาลัยในต่างประเทศ นักศึกษาต่างชาติที่ไม่ได้ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในการเรียนการสอนจะต้องมีผลวัดระดับภาษาอังกฤษเช่น TOFEL หรือ IELTS ดังนั้นนั้นศึกษาจำเป็นที่จะต้องมีผลสอบดังกล่าวก่อนเข้าสมัครศึกษา แต่หากนักศึกษาไม่มีผลสอบก็จำเป็นจะต้องไปศึกษาหลักสูตรภาษาอังกฤษเสียก่อน ซึ่งระยะเวลาก็ขั้นอยู่กับความสามารถของนักศึกษาเอง

>>>ดังนั้น BEA จึงได้ จัดทำการสอบ Placement Test เพื่อวัดระดับความสามารถทางภาษาโดยข้อสอบเป็นของโรงเรียนสอนภาษาที่ BEA เป็นตัวแทนอยู่ และโรงเรียนจะเป็นผู้ตรวจข้อสอบและกำหนดระยะเวลาของการศึกษาภาษาอังกฤษของนักศึกษาแต่ละคน และเมื่อจบหลักสูตรดังกล่าวแล้วก็สามารถนำผลดังกล่าวไปสมัครเข้าศึกษาในโรงเรียน วิทยาลัย มหาวิทยาลัย ได้โดยไม่ต้องสอบ IELTS หรือ TOFEL อีก
ข้อดี	- วัดระดับความเชี่ยวชาญทางภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อประเมินตนเอง
	- สามารถประเมินค่าใช้จ่ายได้เพราะทราบระยะเวลาการเรียนที่ค่อนข้างแน่นอน
	- มีโอกาสในการปรับตัวกับสภาพแวดล้อมใหม่ ภาษาที่แตกต่างก่อนเข้าชั้นเรียนจริง
	- สามารถสอบได้โดยไม่มีค่าใช้จ่าย (ผ่าน BEA)
ข้อเสีย	- หากไม่มีผลสอบ TOFEL หรือ IELTS จะเสียเวลา และ งบประมาณที่สูงขึ้น

TIPS 2 :: University Pathways

>>>หลายคนอาจคุ้นหูกับคำว่า Pathway แต่อีกหลายคนยังไม่เคย หรือ เคยแต่ก็ไม่เข้าใจว่าคืออะไร BEA ขอไขข้อข้องใจสำหรับ ผู้ปกครอง และนักศึกษาทุกท่าน

>>>โดยปรกติแล้วนักเรียนไทยนิยมไปศึกษาหลักสูตรภาษาอังกฤษมากเป็นที่สุด แต่ก็มีอีกจำนวนไม่น้อยที่ต้องการศึกษาต่อในระดับที่สูงขึ้น สืบเนื่องจากบทที่ 1 ในเรื่องของ Direct Entry ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นอันดับแรกของการไปเรียนต่างประเทศ (นอกเสียจากมีผลสอบภาษาอังกฤษแล้ว)

>>>เมื่อนักเรียนมีผลภาษาอังกฤษแล้ว ก็ถึงเวลาเลือกโรงเรียนกัน โรงเรียน มหาวิทยาลัย มีกฎเกณฑ์ การรับใกล้เคียงกันแตกต่างกันบ้างเล็กน้อยแต่ก็มีความแตกต่าง มหาวิทยาลัยที่มีชื่อเสียงการ admission ก็อาจยากขึ้นเนื่องจากผู้สนใจเข้าเรียนเป็นจำนวนมาก ซึ่งนอกจากผลการสอบภาษาอังกฤษแล้วการเข้าศึกษาในระดับที่สูงขึ้นจะดูผล Academic ด้วยถึงเวลานี้การเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยของบ้างคนอาจยากขึ้นแล้ว แต่ก็ยังมีทางเลือกอีกคือระบบที่เรียกว่า Pathway

>>>ระบบที่ว่านี้นักศึกษาจะต้องเรียนในระดับ Diploma ให้จบเสียก่อนแล้วจึงโอนหน่วยกิตเข้ามหาวิทยาลัย เช่นนักศึกษาต้องการเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยแห่งหนึ่ง แต่ผลสอบ IELTS ได้แค่ 5.5 ในขณะที่มหาวิทยาลัยรับ 6.0 ขึ้นไปนักศึกษาอาจเลือกวิธีดังนี้ เข้าศึกษาในระดับ Diploma เสียก่อน (เพราะ requirment ต่ำกว่า) และเมื่อจบ Diploma แล้วก็โอนหน่วยกิตไปเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยต่อได้ และในขณะที่นักศึกษาจบ Diploma แล้วก็จะได้รับประกาศณียบัตรด้วย ซึ่งปัจจุบัน มหาวิทยาลัยต่าง ๆ ล้วนก็มีหลักสูตรดั่งกล่าว นอกจากนี้ยังมีโรงเรียนเอกชนและรัฐบาล (TAFE) ที่รับนักศึกษาในระดับนี้

>>>คือ หลักสูตรเพื่อเพิ่มเติมก่อนเข้ามหาวิทยาลัย นักเรียนหลายคนอาจปรับตัวไม่ได้เมื่อไปเรียนต่อต่างประเทศทั้งเรื่องของภาษา ระบบการศึกษา นักเรียนบางคนอาจมีพื้นฐานวิชาการไม่ดีพอจึงต้องเข้ากลักสูตรนี้ โดยปรกติรับนักเรียนเข้าศึกษาตั้งแต่ year 11-12 หรือ มัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 และ 6 ตามลำดับจะเข้าช่วงไหนก็ได้ โดยปรกติ Foundation year จะตอบรับจากมหาวิทยาลัยที่นักเรียนเลือกโดยตรงเมื่อสำเร็จ Foundation year แล้วก็เข้าศึกษาต่อในระดับปริญญาตรี ณ มหาวิทยาลัยนั้น ๆ ระบบนี้ต่างจาก High School Preperation ซึ่งจะอธิบายในบทต่อไป ปัจจุบัน BEA ก็มีหลักสูตรดังกล่าวอยู่หลายมหาวิทยาลัย ดังนี้

ข้อดี	- เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมในทุกด้านก่อนเข้าศึกษาจริง
	- สำหรับนักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาปี่ที่ 5 นักเรียนไม่จำเป็นต้องเรียน ม.6 ต่อทำให้ลดระยะเวลาลงไป
	- ปรับสภาพแวดล้อมก่อนเข้าชั้นเรียนจริงซึ่งมีความยากลำบากในการเรียนมากขึ้น
ข้อเสีย	- งบประมาณที่สูงขึ้น

>>>การรับสมัครต้องใช้ผลภาษาอังกฤษเช่นเดียวกัน หากไม่มีผลต้องไปเรียนหลักสูตรภาษาอีก หลักสูตรนี้เหมาะสำหรับนักศึกษาที่มีความตั้งใจ สำเร็จการศึกษาในต่างเทศประจริง ๆเพราะต้องใช้เวลาตั้งแต่เริ่มต้นจนจบการศึกษาในระดับปริญญาตรีค่อนข้างนานประมาณ 4 ปีขึ้นไป แต่นักเรียนก็จะมีความเชียวชาญทั้งภาษาอังกฤษ และ ระบบการศึกษาในต่างประเทศ และหากนักเรียนจะศึกษาในระดับปริญญาโท ก็ง่ายขึ้นไม่ต้องมีผลสอบ IELTS อีกต่อไปเพราะนักเรียนได้ผ่านการเรียน การสอน การสอบ และจบการศึกษาในระบบสากล และได้ใช้เวลาตลอดการศึกษาเป็นภาษา อังกฤษแล้ว

TIPS 4 :: High School Prepreration

>>>เป็นหลักสูตรที่ใกล้เคียงกับ Foundation year มากนักเรียนและผู้ปกครองต้องทำความเข้าใจให้ถูกต้อง ก่อนตัดสินใจเลือกระบบใด ระบบหนึ่ง

>>>High School Prepreration มีหลักสูตรเนื้อหาทางด้าน Academic มากกว่าเพราะต้องศึกษาจนจบ
Year 12 ( ม.6) และต้องทำการสอบปลายภาคและต้องสอบผ่าน ถึงจะจบ และการจบก็จะไม่สามารถยืนยัน ได้ว่าจะเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยที่ไหนได้ คือ นักเรียนต้องทำการสมัครเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยอีกครั้งหนึ่ง

>>>แต่นักเรียนสามารถเลือกมหาวิทยาลัยได้โดยอิสระ แต่ต้องแข่งขันกัน ซึ่งระบบนี้ ก็เหมือนนักเรียนสำเร็จการศึกษาจากประเทศไทยแล้วก็ไปศึกษาต่อ ต่างประเทศเพียงแต่นักเรียนไปเรียนและจบการศึกษาระดับมัธยมในต่างประเทศ

Comparison of Year 12 and Foundation programs

High School/Foundation comparison

When making the decision whether the High School or Foundation option is best for you, you will need to take a number of factors into consideration. Your academic experience, your age and your ultimate university ambition will all help towards deciding the right path for you.

High School program structure

The High School curriculum is ideal for students who want the maximum subject choice. In Years 11 and 12, there will be a choice of subject areas in addition to core subjects. Assessment will be by a combination of course work throughout the academic year and final examinations, which are administered by the State. The formal qualifications achieved at the end of the program allow students to apply for whatever university they want. High School is available to both international and local Australian students.

Foundation program structure

The Foundation program is a pathway with multiple start dates for international students only. It is more focused in its academic content. The program is designed specifically for entry to a particular university, with the curriculum being developed by both the relevant partner university and Taylors College. There is a greater emphasis on examinations and achievement of specified grades guarantees entry to the partner university. Students may, however, also choose to apply to other universities.
